Whenever people hear about Nepal, the first thing that springs to their mind is Mt. Everest or Everest Base Camp but the country offers much more than just Mt. Everest and the Everest Base Camp Trek. Exploring Nepal has always been on the bucket list of many wanderers and travelers. As it has got high Himalayas to lower Terai, most travelers find pleasant environment and temperature to travel. Due to its diverse topography, Nepal has been the top choice of tourists for trekking and hiking. Most of the destination in Nepal is explored and some are yet to be explored. If you are a silent-loving trekker or love to trek to less crowded destinations, here is the list of the top off-the-beaten trek destinations.

1. Kanchenjunga Region

One of the most well-known treks in Nepal is the Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek. However, it is quite less popular than Everest Base Camp Trek and Annapurna base Camp trek. This route is ideal for you if you want to find serenity in nature. The trek, which is well-known for its isolation, was originally a restricted area and only became accessible to hikers and trekkers in 1988. Due to this, fewer people go on the Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek which makes it a peaceful and less crowded destination. On this trek, you can encounter rural Nepali cultures, cuisines, and lifestyles in their authentic forms. Small lodges with the least amount of food varieties are found along the trip route on the trek. You will be enthralled by the natural heritage the entire way with little interference from people.

2. Nar-Phu Valley

Nar Phu Valley Trek is a rough and rugged journey that takes us to the beautiful and interesting intact portion of the Annapurna region - Nar Phu Valley. It hasn't been long since trekking started in this area. Trekking to this remote mountain valley provides an undisturbed medieval Tibetan history, picturesque historic villages in the Himalayas, scenic views of the mountains, and fantastic alpine sceneries. Nar Phu Valley Trek begins from Jagat on the famous Annapurna Circuit trail and then branches off from Koto to follow the beaten track north of Manang to the Nar Phu Valley, passing the Kang La pass. Trekking in the Nar and Phu gaon is a full package of cultural immersion, naturally stunning countryside as well as the sights of spectacular glistening snow-capped mountains.

3. Tsum Valley

Tsum Valley is one of the most remote, isolated Himalayan valleys in the world and is situated in the east of Manaslu, on the Tibetan border. Compared with other tourist areas, the Manaslu region is much less accessible requiring unique permits. The Tsum Valley trek brings travelers to the mysterious Tsum Valley meaning "vivid" home to the immediate descendant Tibetans (known as Tsumbas). The valley is rich in Tibetan spiritual, incredibly stunning villages, and magnificent Himalayan scenery and was opened to trekkers back in 2008. The Tsum Valley trekking takes you through the glorious surroundings of the ranges of Ganesh Himal, Shringi Himal, and Boudha Himal. The familiarity of Tsum Valley with Tibet, a long tradition of Buddhism, natural beauty, and pristine nature make this Tsum Valley trek special. Trails are strewn with imaginative stupas and lined with Mani walls made up of thousands of stone slabs with deities and prayers cut throughout.

4. Upper Dolpo

The Upper Dolpo Trek route is a rugged and unspoiled region near Nepal's Tibetan border. The Dolpo region is located between the Dhaulagiri ranges and the Tibetan plateau. The entire region was inaccessible to trekkers until the opening of Dolpo to organized trekking groups in 1989. The west portion of the district is home to the Shey Phoksundo National Park, the largest in Nepal. Our Upper Dolpo Trekking journey starts in Kathmandu with tours of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nepal's first English-subtitled film on Dolpo, The Caravan was also a major hit and was nominated for the Oscar Award in the category of best foreign-language picture. Trekking in the Dolpo region of Nepal helps you to witness the grandeur of the rugged, lovely valleys, fascinating areas, small villages, giant mountains and greenery pine trees, rhododendron, oaks, etc. The Upper Dolpo Trek's key highlights are an ancient beautiful forest, captivating Shey Phoksundo Lake, remote Ringmo settlements, and centuries-old Buddhist monasteries known as Shey Gompa. Owing to the heavy snowfall the winter seasons are stopped for this journey. It is possible to do this Upper Dolpo Trek during the summer and monsoon seasons.

5. Makalu Region

The main center of attraction during the trek to this region is Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Area which is located in the Solukhumbu district and Sankhuwasabha district. This conservation area was officially opened in 1992. Chamlang Himal, Barun Valley, and Mt. Makalu (8463m), the fifth-highest mountain in the world are the glory of this region. The Makalu Barun region provides an exceptional and varied environment for a great variety of flora and fauna due to its wide range of altitudinal and climatic differences. Here, you may find plants from all of the main biological zones, including the subtropical, temperate, alpine, and sub-alpine. Additionally, the park is home to a wide range of species.
