Tamang Heritage Trek

Tamang Heritage Trek is a beautiful trek giving travelers an insight into the everyday lives of the Langtang region's Tamang people who are Nepalese mountain dwellers. Langtang is a place of ancient Tibetan monasteries, rhododendron and bamboo trees, magnificent waterfalls, snow-capped Himalayas and holy lakes, representing the Himalayan scenery's isolation and serenity. Located between Mt Langtang and Ganesh Himal, the Tamang Heritage Trail is situated just north of the Kathmandu Valley and a newly opened trekking route. The ethnic community has retained its traditional lifestyle which hasn't changed much since the start of the settlement. The Tamang Heritage Trekking begins with visits to UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Next, we drive to Syabrubesi and continue mountain trekking. During our Tamang heritage trail, we will be blessed with outstanding views of the Himalayan mountains such as Lirung, Langtang Kerung, Chimse Danda ridge crossed by Ganjala Pass, Dorje Lakpa, Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal, Paldor peak, Shringi Himal, Manaslu and Sanjen Himal ranges. The craftsmanship, clothing, historically constructed stone-mud houses and the beautifully carved wooden porches are widely admired in Tamang villages. When we get down to the end of the journey, we enjoy a Briddim homestay trip. We can also relax in Tatopani's natural hot springs.   Exposure to the Tamang's distinctive culture and lifestyle, their warm embrace, traditional mountain houses, ancient monasteries, Gompas makes the Tamang Heritage trek even more thrilling.

The town’s name literally means ‘hot water’ in Nepali, and there are tons of this name all over Nepal.
