Cholatse Peak Climbing
Cholatse 6,440m (21,129ft)also known as Jobo Lhaptshan is a Nepalese Himalayan Mountain in the Khumbu region. Mt Cholatse is linked by a long ridge to Taboche (6,501m) and Chola glacier descends from the east face. Cholatse's north and east faces can be seen from Dughla along the path to Everest base camp. On 22 April 1982, Vern Clevenger, Galen Rowell, John Roskelley and Bill O'Connor ascended Cholatse for the first time from the southwest ridge. The north face was scaled in 1984 with results. Ueli Steck completed the first solo climb across the north face on April 15, 2005. Cholatse Peak Climbing starts from a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. From Lukla, a trek is made to reach Namche Bazaar's trading spot via Phakding. After acclimatizing at Namche, the trekkers then climb up into the Gokyo valley. Then, the trail takes the trekkers to the Cho-La Pass in Dzongla, with panoramic views of Mount Lhotse and the mighty Mount Everest. Ascending from Dzongla carries you to the Cholaste Base Camp. Compared to other peaks in Nepal, Mt Cholatse Mountain is physically challenging and requires cautious ascent. For those climbers who are experienced in ice and rock climbing, we suggest the cholatse peak climbing.
