Baruntse Expedition via Mera La Pass

Mount Baruntse Expedition is one of the most spectacular peaks in the Himalayas of Nepal. Mt Baruntse 7,129m (23,390ft) is located in the epicenter of three glacier valleys, including Barun, Imja and Hunku, between Lhotse and Makalu. It has the Barun Glacier flowing from Cho north to south, the Imja Tse glacier to the northwest, and the southeast boundary is created by the Hunku glacier. The peak was first climbed by Colin Todd and Geoff Harrow in 1954. The mountain is topped with four summits on four ridges with a high rate of success ascending via South Ridge on the usual path. The steep ice parts at 50 degrees and a prominent ice cliff at about 7,000 meters rendering the Baruntse South-East Ridge a little difficult climb. A more open option is the path through Lukla, the Mera La and the Hinku Valley. This path also lets us acclimatize and ascend the Mera Peak (6,476m/21,246 ft). We render two elevated camps above the Base Camp-Camp I just below the East Col at 5,700m altitude and Camp II on the South-West Ridge at 6,420m altitude. The Baruntse Expedition via Mera La Pass Climbing also involves several days of trekking through the Khumbu region's scenic heartland. We will be greeted with outstanding views of the Himalayan vista during our trip.
