Cho Oyu Expedition
Cho Oyu, standing at 8,188m (26,864ft), is the 6th highest mountain in the world and forms a part of the Greater Himalayas, where the central Asian plateau intersects with the Indian subcontinent. In 1954, a joint expedition by Austria and Tibet proposed the first ascent of Cho Oyu, which holds the best safety record of all the mountains above 8,000m. Climbing Cho Oyu is an achievable goal for novice climbers who are keen on attempting an 8,000m peak. Our Cho Oyu expedition begins with a visit to the beautiful Kathmandu valley for sightseeing. We then travel to Tibet via Zhangmu and head towards Nyalam and Old Tingri, where we commence our trek to the Tibetan Base Camp and set up our climbing camps. The climb provides breathtaking views of numerous Himalayan peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. In addition to the climbing experience, the Cho Oyu expedition also acquaints trekkers with Tibet's rich ancient history.
