Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, also popularly known as Annapurna Sunrise Trekking, or Annapurna Panorama Trekking is one of the most popular and fairly simple treks meandering through the region's beautiful ethnic villages of Gurungs and Magars community. Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in the Kathmandu
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our company representative will meet and welcome you to Nepal and then you'll be transferred to your confirmed hotel. Once you finish the check-in procedure, you can rest & relax at the hotel. Later you will be accompained by the office staff for a short tour of Thamel to make you familiar with some good restaurants, ATMs, money changer and other necessary places you might need during your stay in Thamel.
Day 2: Sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley
After morning breakfast Wongchhu Peak Promotion will introduce you with your tour guide and he will pick you from the respective hotel for an interesting tour of Swayambhunath Stupa located on a hilltop, with fabulous views of Kathmandu city, green hills that surround the valley and of high snow-capped mountains. Swayambhunath one of the oldest historical sites listed in the world heritage of more than 2,5000 years old Buddhist religious complex with huge dome shape stupa with four mystical eyes of Buddha overlooking four directions North, South, East, and West. After an impressive tour visiting the monastery and small chapels, this place surrounded by green forest with many monkeys around and this place is also known as “Monkey Temple”.
Next nice tour leads towards east of Kathmandu city at Pashupatinath Temple Area, tourist or non Hindu are not allowed inside the main temple, however one can overlook the temple from the bank of Bagmati river the holy and famous Shiva temple with golden pagoda tier roofs and four silver doors surrounded with lovely forest with many monkeys around. This place is flooded in the mid-February on Shiva Ratri (birth anniversary of Lord Shiva). Nearby on the opposite bank of the river funeral and cremation takes places for all Hindu religion.
Then after drive towards northeast reaching at Bouddhanath Stupa also called as “Little Tibet” due to strong Tibetan influence in culture, traditions and Buddhist religion, Bouddhanath a huge dome with tow tier where one can walk up near the top with nice views of surrounding Bouddhanath area with shop, stores, restaurants, and monasteries.
After a fascinating and lovely historical and cultural tour return back to respective hotels. Then take rest for a while and in the evening you will meet with your trekking guide and a representative from Wongchhu Peak Promotion (WPP) office for short briefing before your trip because you should know all the essential factors and places before going to the trek.
Day 3: Drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu
Today, we drive to Pokhara in luxurious tourist bus eye sightseeing through the attractive scene of Nepalese countryside like Muglin, Gorkha- Manakamana, Pokhara-Prithvi Narayan Chowk, bus station, lakeside of Pokhara. These countrysides offer the various vegetations, green forest, rivers, narrow, congested, roundabout roads, and very beautiful green hills.
One can also take a flight to Pokhara.
Day 4: Drive to Nayapul (1,070m/3,509ft) & hike to Tikhedhunga (1,540m/5,051ft)
In the clear morning attractive Snow-White Mountain allure you. With the various heart-stealing views of snowy walls and mountain, your trek leads to the Nayapul. Around two hours drive, you reach in Nayapul. With the glance of Birethanti, we start to walk through the bank of Modi Khola/River. Indeed, pine forest, rhododendron, rural community belongs to ethnics groups with the beautiful sight of lowland rice fields. We stay overnight at Tikhedhunga.
Day 5: Trek to Ghorepani (2,850m/9,348ft)
Today also we start our trek after breakfast. Our long uphill from the Tikhe Dhunga will be started and continued until arrived at Ulleri village. The long stone steps trail offers you a range of exiting landscape and Himalayan vista. This ascending is a little bit difficult. This day we pass through the rhododendron forest, beautiful villages exploring various types of flora and fauna. You also enjoy the majestic views of the mountains like Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri and many more.
Day 6: Hike to Poon Hill & Trek to Tadapani (2,660m/8,724ft)
In the morning, we go up to Poon Hill to see the view of the sunrise in the snow clad mountains over the Himalaya. Besides, the glimpse of the Himalaya range of Dolpo, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and Dhaulagiri come in front of your eyes. After some time we return back to the Ghorepani and trek to Tadapani, which lies 300 meters down from Ghorepani. In the process of descending down to Tadapani, we pass through the dense forest where we encounter monkeys, birds, and other wild animals.
Day 7: Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1,940m/6,363ft)
Today, we descend steeply through forests and reach Ghandruk village at noon. We have the afternoon to visit the Annapurna conservation office and museum. We spend the night at Ghandruk.
Day 8: Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul & drive to Pokhara (830m/2,722ft)
Today we walk down from Ghandruk village and meet a flat trail along the Modi Khola. Eventually, we make a circuit when we reach Birethanti. We continue walking towards Nayapul. We then drive to Pokhara. Overnight stay at Pokhara.
Day 9: Fly back to Kathmandu
We fly to Kathmandu in the afternoon. After arriving in Kathmandu, we will be escorted to our hotel. We enjoy the day leisurely or catch up on shopping or explore any landmarks we missed during our first day in Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 10: Leisure day at Kathmandu
Leisure day at Kathmandu followed by farewell dinner & celebration. Leisure day at Kathmandu followed by farewell dinner & celebration. You can ask your guide to take you on a sightseeing trip inside Kathmandu Valley. On this day you can go to the various museums around the valley including the Narayanhiti Museum which earlier used to be the residence of the last king of Nepal. You may also go to the hilltop of Nagarkot. After some sightseeing around the world heritage sites in the valley, you will have a farewell dinner and enjoy with your Nepali friends and guide. You might even make plans for extending your stay for Chitwan jungle safari, rafting activities, and more with your guide.
Day 11: Departure
Finally it’s SEE OFF TIME. You will be picked from Hotel by representatives of Wongchhu Peak Promotion staff and dropped at Tribhuvan International Airport with a hope to see you again.
