Chamlang Expedition

Mt Chamlang 7,321m (24,019ft) is an impressive mountain situated in Eastern Nepal just about 10 km southwest of the Mt Makalu-5th highest mountain in the country. The first to climb Chamlang mountain was a Japanese expedition team member, So Anma and a Nepali Sherpa Pasang Phutar Sherpa were the first to climb this mountain on the 31st May 1962 led by Takeo Okamoto. This peak features an utterly breathtaking panorama of 5 of the world's 8,000 m peaks-Everest, Kangchenjunga, Makalu, Cho-Oyu, Lhotse, and many other 7,000m peaks including Baruntse, Ama Dablam, Pumori, Kangtega, Nuptse. The Base Camp is situated at an altitude of 4200 m from where we set up 3 camps- Camp I (5,200m), Camp II (5,700 m), Camp III (6,300 m) before attempting the summit. Mount Chamlang is a steep forward mountain with many challenging sections including deep seracs and crevasses. Therefore, a high degree of physical activity and previous professional climbing expertise is strongly recommended for climbing Mt Chamlang. The Chamlang expedition is an ideal choice for adventure-seeking climbers to enjoy a challenging and rewarding experience.

Mt. Chamlang requires set-up of 3 high camps, where the gear, food and fuel has to be carried up. No matter how physically strong and fit one is at the sea level, at high elevation one’s physical efficiency drops considerably so the team of Climbing Sherpas pooled from all clients will set-up the route to allow you to summit.

Having personal Climbing Sherpa eliminates arbitrage of the ‘Leader’ to decide who will get limited climbing support on the summit day. In the emergency situation the expedition Leader has responsibility for a number of people including themselves with impaired physical abilities due to high altitude, while Climbing Sherpa has only responsibility for his own client and with high physical abilities at high elevation due to natural genetic predisposition and all in cooperation of other expedition Climbing Sherpas. Our Climbing Sherpas are highly trained and experienced climbers doing high elevation climbs in Nepal and Tibet season after season.
