Tilicho Peak Expedition

Tilicho Peak is situated in Annapurna District, north of Manang. The peak was found in 1950 by the team headed by Maurice Herzog who was trying to locate Annapurna I. The first climb was made using the Northwest shoulder by the French climber Emanuel Schmutz in 1979. Mount Tilicho peak 7,134m (23,406ft) is a little difficult to ascend compared with other mountains. There are two ways to enter the base camp. One route is via the valley of Marsyangdi, and another is through the valley of Kali Gandaki crossing the Mesokanto Pass (5300m). From the top of this Mesokanto pass, a peaceful view of Tilicho Lake (4,800m) and several more mountains can be seen. Tilicho Peak base camp is situated near the 5,200m high Tilicho Dam. The ascent from base camp to camp I (5,800m/19,029 ft) is incredibly straight. Camp I is situated on a shelf just above 45 degrees mixed rock and ice field under the Northwest arm while Camp II (6,100m/20,013 ft) is located on the shoulder. Through Camp II, the road goes straight to the 60-degree elevation at top of Tilicho Peak expedition. Avalanches can occur on this path so you need to step ahead carefully.

Day 1: Arrive at Kathmandu

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our company representative will meet and welcome you to Nepal and then you'll be transferred to your confirmed hotel. Once you finish the check-in procedure, you can rest & relax at the hotel. Later you will be accompained by the office staff for a short tour of Thamel to make you familiar with some good restaurants, ATMs, money changer and other necessary places you might need during your stay in Thamel.

Day 2: A full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley, the capital city

The very next morning, after breakfast you will leave for a full day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. You can visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple and Swyambhunath, very ancient and essentially enlisted in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath and the fine arts and historical architecture of Kathmandu Durbar Square reflecting the ancient Nepalese culture which is the highlights of our guided tour. A visit to Patan City will enchant you with its famous fine arts and historical architecture. On return to your hotel, you will have time to explore the local area, have dinner and perhaps take a leisurely stroll through the famous streets. Finally, day ends with a Authentic Nepalese Dinner in Nepali Cultural Restaurant.

Day 3: Expedition Preparation Day

We spend a day preparing the final documents, gears & equipment check and so on. You can go for final shopping if something is missed before leaving out for the mountain.

Day 4: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (760m/2,492ft)

Day 5: Drive from Besisahar to Chame (2,670m/8,757ft)

5-6 hrs drive. Overnight in Lodge.

Day 6: Trek from Chame to Pisang (3,100m/10,168ft)

4-5 hrs trek. Overnight in Lodge.

Day 7: Trek from Pisang to Manang (3,440m/11,283ft)

5-6 hrs trek. Overnight in Lodge.

Day 8: Acclimatization day at Manang lodge

Overnight in Lodge.

Day 9: Trek from Manang to Khangsar (3,734m/12,247ft)

4-5 hrs trek. Overnight in Lodge.

Day 10: Trek from Khangsar to Besi Khola (3,955m/12,972ft)

4-5 hrs trek. Overnight in Lodge/camping.

Day 11: Trek from Besi Khola to Tilicho Base Camp (4,150m/13,612ft)

Day 32: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara (950m/3,116ft)

Early morning flight to Pokhara. You'll be flying above the world's deepest gorge. Explore Pokhara & overnight in Hotel.

Day 33: Fly back to Kathmandu

Fly back to Kathmandu, transfer to hotel & enjoy your day.

Day 34: Leisure Day at Kathmandu

Leisure day at Kathmandu followed by farewell dinner & celebration. Leisure day at Kathmandu followed by farewell dinner & celebration. You can ask your guide to take you on a sightseeing trip inside Kathmandu Valley. On this day you can go to the various museums around the valley including the Narayanhiti Museum which earlier used to be the residence of the last king of Nepal. You may also go to the hilltop of Nagarkot. After some sightseeing around the world heritage sites in the valley, you will have a farewell dinner and enjoy with your Nepali friends and guide. You might even make plans for extending your stay for Chitwan jungle safari, rafting activities, and more with your guide.

Day 35: Departure

As per your flight schedule you'll be dropped to airport 3 hours prior to the flight time and your trip to Nepal ends here.
