Sikles village trek

Sikles is the village of Gurung, located south of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal to the northeast of Pokhara. Sikles Village Trek also known as Royal Trek as Prince Charles had a trek through the region in 1980 to visit Gurkha recruits villagers as part of an attempt to turn it into a model eco-trekking route. Renowned for its well-preserved Gurung history, this wonderful short trek crosses a range of terrain from lowland villages. Sikles trekking provides excellent views over the mountains and local people's history, heritage and lifestyle. This tour provides the visual elegance of Nepal's nature and history. Sikles Trek also promises charming villages, intriguing patterns of terraced fields, plenty of flora and fauna along the way along with some spectacular views of majestic mountains such as Annapurna (8091 m), Machhapuchhre (6993 m), Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Lamjung Himal, Nilgiri, Tukuche hill, Dhampus hill, Hiunchuli and Gangapurna. The village is acclaimed as one of the major origins of the Gurung community and as SatSayaSikles meaning a village with seven hundred households.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our company representative will meet and welcome you to Nepal and then you'll be transferred to your confirmed hotel. Once you finish the check-in procedure, you can rest & relax at the hotel. Later you will be accompained by the office staff for a short tour of Thamel to make you familiar with some good restaurants, ATMs, money changer and other necessary places you might need during your stay in Thamel.

Day 2: A full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley, the capital city

After morning breakfast Wongchhu Peak Promotion will introduce you with your tour guide and he will pick you from the respective hotel for an interesting tour of Swayambhunath Stupa located on a hilltop, with fabulous views of Kathmandu city, green hills that surround the valley and of high snow-capped mountains. Swayambhunath one of the oldest historical sites listed in the world heritage of more than 2,5000 years old Buddhist religious complex with huge dome shape stupa with four mystical eyes of Buddha overlooking four directions North, South, East, and West. After an impressive tour visiting the monastery and small chapels, this place surrounded by green forest with many monkeys around and this place is also known as “Monkey Temple”. 

Next nice tour leads towards east of Kathmandu city at Pashupatinath Temple Area, tourist or non Hindu are not allowed inside the main temple, however one can overlook the temple from the bank of Bagmati river the holy and famous Shiva temple with golden pagoda tier roofs and four silver doors surrounded with lovely forest with many monkeys around. This place is flooded in the mid-February on Shiva Ratri (birth anniversary of Lord Shiva). Nearby on the opposite bank of the river funeral and cremation takes places for all Hindu religion. 

Then after drive towards northeast reaching at Bouddhanath Stupa also called as “Little Tibet” due to strong Tibetan influence in culture, traditions and Buddhist religion, Bouddhanath a huge dome with tow tier where one can walk up near the top with nice views of surrounding Bouddhanath area with shop, stores, restaurants, and monasteries. 

After a fascinating and lovely historical and cultural tour return back to respective hotels. Then take rest for a while and in the evening you will meet with your trekking guide and a representative from Wongchhu Peak Promotion (WPP) office for short briefing before your trip because you should know all the essential factors and places before going to the trek. 

Day ends with a Nepali Authentic Cultural Dinner together.

Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara

Early morning, after having breakfast at Kathmandu, we will move towards Pokhara. We will drive for about 6 to 8 hours to reach Pokhara. The traveling distance will be shorter if we take the plane. We will definitely enjoy the beautiful and panoramic view of the road. The night will be at Pokhara with a short visit to the city.

Day 4: Drive from Pokhara to Kalikasthan

From Pokhara, after having the early morning breakfast, we will drive towards the BijayapurKhola for about 1 hour to commence our trek. Then we hike towards the trail following the paddy field and river bank. After crossing the river, our trail goes steeper towards Kalikasthan. We will spend the night at Kalikasthan resting at one of the nearest lodges.

Day 5: Trek from Kalikasthan to Lama khet

We will trek towards Lamakhet from Kalikasthan, after having the wonderful breakfast. The trekking route goes for about 6 hours long to the altitude of 1680m. The trail goes through the settlement of mixed ethnic people and then to Mardi Khola through the rice fields. The trekking route is easy as we need to trek alongside the river. We will reach Lamakhet at the end of the day. We will spend the night at Lamakhet. The exhilarating view of green forest around us will definitely attract us.

Day 6: Trek from Lamakhet to Sikles village

After receiving the breakfast at Lamakhet, we will proceed forwards for Sikles. The trekking goes for about 6 hours long walking distance. The trail goes through the flat surface until we reach KhilanGaon. Afterward KhilanGaon, we will head towards Sikles following the trail that goes up to the hill. After walking for 6 hours, we are now at Sikles village at the altitude of 1,980m.

Day 7: Trek from Sikles to Forest camp

After spending a stunning day at Sikles, we will return from our journey with a graceful heart. We will continue our trek following the NeuliKharka or forest camp at the altitude of 2200m. The trekking phenomenon goes for about 5 hours. The trail goes through the forest of rhododendron and oak forest with the fresh breeze coming from it all the year. After a short trek, we will be at a forest camp where we will have our camp for the night.

Day 8: Trek from Forest camp to Ghale Gaun

Early morning, we will clear our camp and will move towards the GhaleGaun. We need to trek through the forest covered by rhododendron and some extinct animals. We need to cross the highest camp and our way will go steeply down towards GhaleGaun. The GhaleGaun is mainly the settlement of Gurung and Magar people.

Day 9: Trek from Ghale Gaun to Hangja & Drive to Pokhara

From Ghalegaun, after having the breakfast we will march towards Pokhara viewing the dazzling view of giant mountains with their white cap of snow. The trekking goes for 3 hours and a steep path will lead us to Hangja to the height of 1,070 to catch a vehicle to return to Pokhara. We can enjoy the evening and night at Pokhara valley enjoying the beautiful market area.

Day 10: Drive back to Kathmandu

Early morning, after having breakfast, we will procedure be back to Kathmandu by a drive for about 6 to 8 hours. We can enjoy the beauties of nature presented on the side of the road. The night will be at Kathmandu with a graceful heart.

Day 11: Leisure day at Kathmandu

Leisure day at Kathmandu followed by farewell dinner & celebration. Leisure day at Kathmandu followed by farewell dinner & celebration. You can ask your guide to take you on a sightseeing trip inside Kathmandu Valley. On this day you can go to the various museums around the valley including the Narayanhiti Museum which earlier used to be the residence of the last king of Nepal. You may also go to the hilltop of Nagarkot. After some sightseeing around the world heritage sites in the valley, you will have a farewell dinner and enjoy with your Nepali friends and guide. You might even make plans for extending your stay for Chitwan jungle safari, rafting activities, and more with your guide.

Day 12: Departure

Finally, it’s SEE OFF TIME. There is nothing to do but trade emails with your travel companions and organize your photos. You will be picked from Hotel by representatives of Wongchhu Peak Promotion staff and dropped at Tribhuvan International Airport 3 hours earlier than your flight time with a hope to see you again. On your way home you'll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
