Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m/4,428ft)
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our company representative will meet and welcome you to Nepal and then you'll be transferred to your confirmed hotel. Once you finish the check-in procedure, you can rest & relax at the hotel. Later you will be accompained by the office staff for a short tour of Thamel to make you familiar with some good restaurants, ATMs, money changer and other necessary places you might need during your stay in Thamel.
Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu and preparation day for the trek.
After morning breakfast Wongchhu Peak Promotion will introduce you with your tour guide and he will pick you from respective hotel for an interesting tour of Swayambhunath Stupa located on a hill top, with fabulous views of Kathmandu city, green hills that surrounds the valley and of high snow capped mountains.
Swayambhunath one of the oldest historical sites listed in world heritage of more than 2,5000 years old Buddhistreligious complex with huge dome shape stupa with four mystical eyes of Buddha overlooking four directions North, South, East and West. After an impressive tour visiting the monastery and small chapels this place surrounded with green forest with many monkeys around and this place is also known as “Monkey Temple”.
Next nice tour leads towards east of Kathmandu city at Pashupatinath Temple area, tourist or non Hindu are not allowed inside the main temple, however one can overlook the temple from the bank of Bagmati river the holy and famous Shiva temple with golden pagoda tier roofs and four silver doors surrounded with lovely forest with many monkeys around. This place is flooded in the mid February on Shiva Ratri (birth anniversary of lord Shiva). Nearby on the opposite bank of the river funeral and cremation takes places for all Hindu religion.
Then after drive towards north east reaching at Bouddhanath Stupa also called as “Little Tibet” due to strong Tibetan influence in culture, traditions and Buddhist religion, Bouddhanath a huge dome with tow tier where one can walk up near the top with nice views of surrounding Bouddhanath area with shop, stores, restaurants and monasteries.
After a fascinating and lovely historical and cultural tour return back to respective hotels. Then take rest for a while and in evening you will meet with your trekking guide and representative from Wongchhu Peak Promotion (WPP) office for short briefing before your trip because you should know all the essential factors and places before going to the trek.
Finally, day ends with a Authentic Nepalese Dinner in Nepali Cultural Restaurant.
Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Khamding (WSMH) (2,500m/8,202ft)
In the morning, we begin our journey at about 5:00 in the morning. Drive from Kathmandu to Khamding via Singhuli Bardibas highway and the impressive Okhaldhunga Bazaar.
Okhaldhunga is the headquarter of the Okhaldhunga District in the Sagarmatha Zone of Nepal.
We follow the highway road along the sunkoshi River banks until you reach Ghurmi Village. Along the way, you can sit back and admire the constantly changing landscape with dense forests, terranced rice fields, and countless gushing rivers.
We will be there in Khamding hospital site by evening. Overnight in camping.
Day 4: Extra day on Hospital
After spending our first night camping, we wake up early in the morning. We have our breakfast and then visit the hospital site, where we spend some time. We coordinate with the hospital staff and nurses, and after that, we will visit the local community, Gumba (monastery), and school. During our visit, we will interact with the local community. This way, we will dedicate an extra day to the hospital side, exploring and engaging with the local community. Overnight in camping.
Day 5: Trek from WSMH to Pikey Basecamp (3,640m/11,942ft)
After having breakfast, we start our trek. The trail goes uphill gradually and we can walk at a comfortable pace until we reach Lamachay village, where we can stop for lunch. After passing a stupa, we continue on a steep zigzag climb through a beautiful forest of rhododendron and pine trees for about an hour. Then, the path becomes easier with a gentle uphill climb until we reach our destination, Pikey B. C. This place has only 4 households, and it's interesting to visit the cheese factory there. We can enjoy the sunset and admire the breathtaking views of Langtang Peak, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and Annapurna mountains. Overnight in camping.
Day 6: Early morning hike to Pikey Peak Top (4,065m/13,336ft) to Jasmane Bhanjyang (3,549m/11,643ft) and trek to Taktor
Pikey Danda offers a fantastic panoramic view of the mountains and valleys, making it one of the top destinations. From this place, you can witness the majestic Mt. Everest and many other mountains. Additionally, you have the opportunity to visit a cheese factory that produces Himalayan Yak (Nak) cheese. After exploring Pikey Danda, we will continue our journey towards our next destination, Taktor. Overnight in camping.
Day 7: Trek from Taktor to Thupten Chholing Monastery (2,920m/9,577ft)
The path from Taktor to Gompa is incredibly scenic, passing through charming villages and potato fields. Thupten Chholing Gompa is a large monastery where many monks reside, some of whom have migrated from Tibet long ago. You can visit the monastery and participate in morning and evening prayers, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere. Staying overnight at a tent camp in this beautiful setting will be a delightful experience.
Day 8: Trek from Thupten Chholing Monastery to Yak Kharka (3,700m/12,136ft)
On this day, your trek will begin with a gentle climb towards Yak Kharka. The path will lead you through stunning forests, with occasional uphill and downhill sections. It's important to be aware of altitude sickness, but the trek to Pikey Peak will uplift your spirits. As you navigate the rocky trails, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the mountains along the way. Eventually, you'll reach Yak Kharka, a grazing ground where locals bring their cattle for grazing. You'll also come across small huts and shepherds in the area. You'll spend the night camping in this beautiful location.
Day 9: Trek from Yak Kharka to Saharsbeni (3,835m/12,578ft)
After leaving Yak Kharka in the morning, you will make your way to Saharsbeni. The trail is lengthy but doesn't involve much ascent in terms of altitude. It may feel quite solitary, but you'll have the opportunity to enjoy various landscapes along the way. As you continue towards Saharsbeni, you'll get closer glimpses of magnificent snow-capped mountains. You'll pass by Pare Danda, a vantage point that offers breathtaking views of the snow-covered Himalayas. At the end of the day, you'll spend the night at a tented camp in Saharsbeni.
Day 10: Early morning Hike to Dudhkunda (4,592m/15,065ft) and trek back to Saharsbeni (3,835m/12,578ft)
Finally, you will embark on a trek to Dudh Kunda. Dudh Kunda Lake is situated at the base of Mt. Numbur and the Karyalung glacier. It is considered a sacred place and is believed to be the home of Lord Shiva. Both Hindus and Buddhists hold this place in high regard, and many pilgrims visit the lake during the full moon of August. There is a tradition of taking a dip in the cold lake, as it is believed to wash away all sins. After reaching the campsite, you will rest and spend the night in a tented camp at Dudh Kunda.
Day 11: Trek from Saharsbeni to Ringmo (2,720m/8,923ft) and drive to Phaplu (2,469m/8,098ft)
After leaving Saharsbeni, our next destination is Ringmo. We will trek through the beautiful landscapes, following a trail that may feel a bit lonely but offers stunning views along the way. As we continue our journey, we will pass through Ringmo, a charming village. From there, we will take a scenic drive to Phaplu. The drive will allow us to enjoy the surrounding scenery and take in the sights as we make our way to Phaplu. It will be a memorable journey filled with natural beauty and the warmth of the local culture.
Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu
After completing the Dudhkunda Lake trek, we will drive back to Kathmandu, enjoying the scenic landscapes and reflecting on our experiences. We may make pit stops for meals and to soak in the local culture. Once we reach Kathmandu, we can celebrate the successful trek and cherish the memories.
Day 13: Leisure Day - Farewell dinner
Leisure day at Kathmandu followed by farewell dinner & celebration. Leisure day at Kathmandu followed by farewell dinner & celebration. You can ask your guide to take you on a sightseeing trip inside Kathmandu Valley. On this day you can go to the various museums around the valley including the Narayanhiti Museum which earlier used to be the residence of the last king of Nepal. You may also go to the hilltop of Nagarkot. After some sightseeing around the world heritage sites in the valley, you will have a farewell dinner and enjoy with your Nepali friends and guide. You might even make plans for extending your stay for Chitwan jungle safari, rafting activities, and more with your guide.
Day 14: Departure
Finally it’s SEE OFF TIME. You will be picked from Hotel by representatives of Wongchhu Peak Promotion staff and dropped at Tribhuvan International Airport with a hope to see you again.
