Dhampus peak (6,012m/19,724 ft) also known as Thapa mountain rises North-east of the Dhaulagiri massif, surrounding the beautiful mountain of Tukuche (6,920 m) and Dhaulagiri (8,167 m). Dhampus Peak Climbing is a popular climbing peak in the Annapurna Region of Nepal.The caravan road leading to Dhampus takes you by flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. You travel through many villages including Tato Pani (2500m/8530 ft), Marpha (2670m/8759 ft), Yak Kharka (4110m/13,484 ft), and then arrive at base camp (5100m/16,732 ft).  Thapa mountain climbing provides spectacular views of the Himalayan area including Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091 m), Annapurna II (7739 m), Annapurna III (7555 m), Annapurna IV (7525 m), Annapurna south (7219 m), Hiunchuli (6441 m), Mt. Fishtail/ Machhapuchhare (6998 m), Mt. Nilgiri (7040 m), Lamjung Himal (6988 m), Tukuche peak (6920 m) etc. Dhampus mountain is Nepal's easier trekking mountain to climb in terms of technicity. The climb requires only a walk with crampons and an axe on steep/flat terrain. Dhampus Peak climbing is suitable for those climbers who are looking to acquire experience at altitude on simple Himalayan terrain.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Kathmandu

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our company representative will meet and welcome you to Nepal and then you'll be transferred to your confirmed hotel. Once you finish the check-in procedure, you can rest & relax at the hotel. Later you will be accompained by the office staff for a short tour of Thamel to make you familiar with some good restaurants, ATMs, money changer and other necessary places you might need during your stay in Thamel.

Day 2: A full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley, the capital city

The very next morning, after breakfast you will leave for a full day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. You can visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple and Swyambhunath, very ancient and essentially enlisted in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath and the fine arts and historical architecture of Kathmandu Durbar Square reflecting the ancient Nepalese culture which is the highlights of our guided tour. A visit to Patan City will enchant you with its famous fine arts and historical architecture. On return to your hotel, you will have time to explore the local area, have dinner and perhaps take a leisurely stroll through the famous streets. Finally, day ends with a Authentic Nepalese Dinner in Nepali Cultural Restaurant.

Day 3: Expedition Preparation Day

We spend a day preparing the final documents, gears & equipment check and so on. You can go for final shopping if something is missed before leaving out for the mountain.

Day 4: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (823m/2,699ft)

25 min flight. Explore Pokhara & overnight in Hotel.

Day 5: Drive to Tikhedhunga & trek to Ulleri (1,350m/4,428ft)

2 hrs drive. 4-5 hrs trek. Overnight in Lodge.

Day 6: Trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani (2,860m/9,380ft)

5-6 hrs trek. Overnight in Lodge.

Day 7: Trek from Trek from Ghorepani to Tatopani via Poonhill (3,210/10,528ft)

6-7 hrs trek. Overnight in Lodge.

Day 8: Trek from Tatopani to Ghasa (2,020m/6,625ft)

5-6 hrs trek. Overnight in Lodge.

Day 9: Trek from Ghasa to Tukche (2,590m/8,495ft)

5-6 hrs trek. Overnight in Lodge.

Day 10: Trek from Tukche to Yak Kharka (4,930m/16,170ft)

5-6 hrs trek. Overnight Camping.

Day 11: Acclimatization at Yak Kharka (rest day)

Overnight Camping.

Day 12: Trek from Yak Kharka to Dhampus/Thapa Peak Base Camp (5,150m/16,892ft)

4-5 hrs trek. Overnight Camping.

Day 13: Climbing Day [Basecamp – Thapa Peak Summit (6,012m/19,719ft) – Basecamp]

8-9 hrs climb. Overnight Camping.

Day 14: Trek from Basecamp to Marpha (2,670m/8,757ft)

We are a team deeply committed to maintaining ecosystems at home and around the world. Therefore, before leaving the base camp, we clean the area. The mountains are our home and we believe that it is unwise to disregard its value by not preserving it. After completing trek down to Marpha. Overnight in Lodge.

Day 15: Drive from Marpha to Pokhara (823m/2,699ft)

3-4 hrs drive. Overnight in Hotel.

Day 16: Fly back to Kathmandu

Explore Pokhara & take an afternoon flight to Kathmandu. Overnight in Hotel.

Day 17: Leisure day at Kathmandu

Leisure day at Kathmandu followed by farewell dinner & celebration. You can ask your guide to take you on a sightseeing trip inside Kathmandu Valley. On this day you can go to the various museums around the valley including the Narayanhiti Museum which earlier used to be the residence of the last king of Nepal. You may also go to the hilltop of Nagarkot. After some sightseeing around the world heritage sites in the valley, you will have a farewell dinner and enjoy with your Nepali friends and guide. You might even make plans for extending your stay for Chitwan jungle safari, rafting activities, and more with your guide.

Day 18: Departure

Finally, it’s SEE OFF TIME. There is nothing to do but trade emails with your travel companions and organize your photos. You will be picked from Hotel by representatives of Wongchhu Peak Promotion staff and dropped at Tribhuvan International Airport 3 hours earlier than your flight time with a hope to see you again. On your way home you'll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.

  • Personal expenses (phone calls, laundry, bar bills, battery recharge, shower, etc.),
