Phulchowki Hiking

Phulchowki Dada is the tallest hill around, within and around the Kathmandu valley, measuring at approximately 2782 meters from the sea level about 14 km southeast of Kathmandu. Phulchowki is also known as Hill of Flowers however, one of the most stunning hiking sites in Kathmandu Valley in terms of vegetation. The Phulchowki hiking is a chance to have a quick break from the valley and catch yourself in the quiet, and enjoy the views that this Dada provides. The journey begins with an approximately one-hour trip to Godawari and a few hours of Phulchowki hike. When you are in Godawari, it is a must to visit Royal Botanical Garden renowned for hundreds of various varieties of flowers, berries, trees, and herbs. The entire trial during Phulchowki hiking wraps with subtropical woodland, rhododendron (some plain white and some dark red), and the oak trees. Tough walking can be very unpleasant but watching the lush foliage, diverse species of birds such as Flycatcher, Rufous-bellied Niltava, Yellow-browed Tit, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Black-winged Cuckoo-shrike, and several more are worth embracing. On a clear day, you can enjoy the magnificent views from Gaurishankar Himal, Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Annapurna range to the east. Likewise, this Dada also has certain cultural traditions as for most Hindus this Dada is a pilgrimage site. At the peak of the Phulchowki hill, there is a shrine of Phulchowki Mai bordered by the prayer flags. Therefore, this Dada is a pilgrimage site for most Hindus.
