Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek

Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek is one of the Great Himalayan Trails situated in northeastern Nepal. Kanchenjunga, the world's third-highest peak, forms the fragile borders of three countries, such as Nepal, India and Tibet. In Tibetan, the word Kanchenjunga means Five Great Snow Jewels, i.e. Gold, Silver, Precious Stones, Sacred Scriptures and Food that allude to the magnificent views of the mountains. The first successful ascent was in 1955 from the base camp of Nepal South by British Expedition led by late Sir George Band, where most of the climbers currently climb the summit from the base camp around Pangpema in the East. The trek to Kanchenjunga Base Camp asses through the Arun Valley that is known to be Nepal's most scenic trekking region. Kanchenjunga South Base Camp, Kanchenjunga North Base Camp, Yalung Glacier and an altitude of 5,143m, alpine woodland, picturesque villages, Pangpema including a panoramic view of Kanchenjunga and neighbouring peaks are the major highlights of the Kanchenjunga trek. The protected area of Kanchenjunga is home to many flora and fauna as well as varied wildlife including black Himalayan bear, musk deer, snow leopard, red panda, wild boar, and many others. Kanchenjunga's trekking area has rhododendron, bamboo forest and is populated by a mixed population of Sherpa, Rai, Limbu, and Gurung that offers trekkers a chance to learn about their culture and lifestyle. Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek is for those who want to enjoy the long trekking parts of Nepal entering the Kanchenjunga bases, and who want to enjoy various diversities.
