Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa (3658m)
Arrive in Lhasa. Transfer to your hotel & get settled. Overnight in Kyichu Hotel Deluxe room.
Day 2: Sight-seeing around Lhasa
In the morning, visit the Potala Palace, the greatest monumental structure in all of Tibet. Also, visit the Jokhang Temple, which is located in Barkhor square in Lhasa. The Barkhor is a famous shopping street with goods and souvenirs from Tibet, Nepal & India. Pilgrims from all over Tibet visit the Barkhor to pray infront of the Jokhang. Afterwards, visit Ramoche, a small monastery located in the city centre.
Overnight in Kyichu Hotel (Deluxe Room).
Day 3: Sight-seeing outside Lhasa
Visit Drepung, one of the three most famous monasteries in Lhasa. Drepung is located just outside Lhasa on Gambo Utse Mountain. Once home to as many as 10,000 monks. The enormous monastic complex is the site of many prayer halls, dormitories and temples. Just below the monastery is the Nechung temple, the former home of the state oracle.
Afterwards, visit Sera Monastery, where you can watch monks debate in the courtyard. If you enjoy hiking, walk the hour long circumambulation path around the monastery complex. Overnight in Kyichu Hotel (Deluxe Room).
Day 4: Drive to Yamdrok Lake (4442 m) & Gyantse (3900m)
Beginning your adventure in the Himalayas, drive to Gyantse. Along the way cross over the Kamba La (4794m) and the Karo La passes (5010m), which boast spectacular views. After Kamba La, arrive at Yamdrok Lake, a holy turquoise-colored lake with stunning scenery. Then drive to Gyantse, where you will visit the Pelkor Chode monastery and Kumbum Stupa followed by a two-hour drive to Shigatse. Here, see the giant Buddha in the famous Tashilhunpo monastery. Overnight in Gyantse hotel.
Day 5: Drive to Shigatse (3836 m) from Gyantse
In the morning visit Kumbum Stupa in Gyantnst and Pelkor Chode monastery followed by a two-hour drive to Shigatse. Here, see the giant Buddha in the famous Tashilhunpo monastery- the residence of Panchen lama lineage. Overnight in Monasarovar hotel.
Day 6: Drive to Saga (4640 m) from Shigatse
Drive up to high mountain passes with a great view of the Himalayas. You’ll be driving through countryside where you can see small lakes and nomads camping with their yaks & sheeps. In the late afternoon, cross over the Bramhaputra River on the way to typical Chinese and Tibetan town. Spend the night in Saga. Overnight in Saga Hotel.
Day 7: Drive to Paryang (4700 m) & Darchen
Drive through a wide valley along a scenic river and look out on the grazing lands of yaks & sheep. Towards the south you can see sand dunes, rocky mountains and snow capped peaks. Depending on the season, nomads and other mobileshopkeepers will arrive in beautiful traditional costume. Join for a cup of hot tea in their home. Continue drive west, in the late afternoon you will catch your first sight of Holy Mt. Kailash and lake Manasarovar. Drive to Darchen. Prepare for the circumambulation around Mt. Kailash. Overnight Camping.
Day 8: 1st Day of the Mt. Kailash Kora
Walk along beautiful rocky cliff, take deep breathe of fresh air. From time to time, the face of Mt. Kailash will appear. The trial passes through the famous Tarpoche Flagpole and then enters Lha Chu Valley. You will reach sacred DiraPuk Monastery which is located on around 5000m by mid-afternoon. Here, you can see the North face of the Mt. Kailash. This is also considered as the birthplace of Lord Shiva-one of the primary forms of God in Hinduism. Overnight Camping.
Day 9: 2nd day of the Mt. Kailash Kora
Hike across a valley up to the Dolma-La pass. At the top make an offering take a break for meditation and forget all your cares & worries. Afterwards begin descending. By the late afternoon arrive at ZuthalPuk, the cave of miracles where Milerepa once stayed.
Overnight Camping.
Day 10: 3rd day of Mt. Kailash Kora
After finishing your circuit of Mt. Kailash, a car will pick you up and take to the lake Manasarovar-the highest fresh water lake in the world. The turquoise-colored lake is full of fish and swans. Holy Mt. Kailash, Mt Gurula-Mandala and Lake Rashekshi surround Manasarovar. The region is considered rich in gold and other minerals, hot springs and hundreds of wild living creatures. Then visit Rakshas Tal Lake and Chiu monastery, a small monastery located upper on a hillside. You can dip into a hot spring there. Overnight Camping.
Day 11: Drive to Saga via Paryang
Begin the journey back to Lhasa. Enjoy a beautiful view of Himalayan ranges. Overnight in Monasarover Hotel.
Day 12: Drive to Shigatse from Saga
Drive to Shigatse from Saga about 8 hours to the border to Nepal.
Day 13: Drive to Lhasa
Drive to Lhasa via Yarlung River.
Day 14: Departure from Lhasa
Finally it’s SEE OFF TIME. There is nothing to do but trade emails with your travel companions and organize your photos. You will be picked from Hotel by our representative and dropped at Airport 3 hours earlier than your flight time with a hope to see you again. On your way home you'll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal & Tibet.
