Lower Mustang Trek

Lower Mustang Trekking is through high altitude desert country climbing in and out of the huge sided valley of the Kali Gandaki. In places the gorge which the Kali Gandaki River runs through is the deepest in the world. This region is full of some of Nepal’s oldest Buddhist Monasteries, ancient and isolated villages with quaint white washed houses.

Furthermore, the landscape is very much related to Tibet. Mustang lies in the rain shadow area and dominated by Dhaulagiri family with Tukuche Mountain. In lower mustang nepal has a barren landscape, the villages with their bright colored fields are like an oasis.

 

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our company representative will meet and welcome you to Nepal and then you'll be transferred to your confirmed hotel. Once you finish the check-in procedure, you can rest & relax at the hotel. Later you will be accompained by the office staff for a short tour of Thamel to make you familiar with some good restaurants, ATMs, money changer and other necessary places you might need during your stay in Thamel.

The very next morning, after breakfast you will leave for a full day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. You can visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple and Swyambhunath, very ancient and essentially enlisted in UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath and the fine arts and historical architecture of Kathmandu Durbar Square reflecting the ancient Nepalese culture which is the highlights of our guided tour.

A visit to Patan City will enchant you with its famous fine arts and historical architecture. On return to your hotel, you will have time to explore the local area, have dinner and perhaps take a leisurely stroll through the famous streets. Finally, day ends with a Authentic Nepalese Dinner in Nepali Cultural Restaurant.

Early morning breakfast, afterward we leave for Domestic airport for our flight to Pokhara. These countrysides offer the various vegetations, green forest, rivers, narrow, congested, roundabout roads, and very beautiful green hills. 

Early flight to Jomsom located an an altitude of 2,720m / 8,894 ft. You will be land on District headquarters of Mustang and will start trek to Kagbeni, the starting point of the Upper Mustang, where you can make your eyes busy for The spectacular views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche peak and Dhampus. Kagbeni is the most interesting typical Tibetan village and the entry point of the upper Mustang for an overnight stop. Stay overnight at Kagbeni.

Our journey starts uphill towards Jharkot village. During the walk we will have scenic picturesque places to stop by and admire. From Kagbeni the path climbs steeply to re-join the direct trail leading to Khingar at 3200 meter. The trail climbs through a desert landscape until Jarkot Village. A further climb reaches us to Muktinath.

In the morning, you can visit the Muktinath temple which is an important pilgrimage destination for Hindu and Buddhist. Here you come across Natural flaming which really exhilarates you. You can enjoy a holy bath of 108 Taps. From Muktinath temple garden, you can see an excellent view of Mount Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Nilgiri (7,061m) and others. Descend down to a hotel for breakfast than retrace your steps to Marpha village.

Marpha village recognized as an Apple orchard, you can eat apples if it happens to be the fruit season. Marpha is a big village enriched with a Buddhist Monastery in between the village which has its own cultural importance.

At morning, just hike to Monastery for great view and meditation if you like. Otherwise, we conduct our journey ascends the wide valley of Kali Gandaki o Jomsom Bazaar. Throughout the trek, you will be enjoying many ethnic villages with a sparse population of Gurung, Thakali, and few Tibetans, you can reach to Jomsom. There is an eco Museum where you can visit in the afternoon. In the evening you celebrate the completion of your trek with the trekking crew.

Get the early flight takes about only 25 - 30 minutes to reach Pokhara. The flights are available during the morning time. The strong breeze blows during and after and frequent change of the weather prevents the flight being landed and taken off in the afternoon. During the flights in the morning, the sky looks very clear which makes you able to enjoy the best view of Annapurna Himalaya & transfer to Hotel.

Fly back to Kathmandu by domestic airlines.  In the evening we will have a farewell dinner in a traditional Nepalese restaurant with cultural performances.

Finally it’s SEE OFF TIME. There is nothing to do but trade emails with your travel companions and organize your photos. You will be picked from Hotel by representatives of Wongchhu Peak Promotion staff and dropped at Tribhuvan International Airport 3 hours earlier than your flight time with a hope to see you again. On your way home you'll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
