Wilderness Medical Society (WMS) Everest Base Camp Trek 2018
5 April 2018, Trek from Lobuche- Gorakshep
The day started very early today for me since high altitude is already playing his game here. After a long night without sleep, I realize that Lobuche was completely coverered by white snow, and only Yaks were already out. The group was splited in two today, one group would go straight to Gorakshep, and one would go visiting “The Pyramid”. I really haved no idea what this pyramid was…
When we got there I found out that The Pyramid International Laboratory/Observatory High Altitude scientific research center is a three story glass aluminium structure built by the Italian government in 1990, where they still work on weather, medical, glaciar, earthquakes. air, water and and bunch of research fields. We were hosted there by a Nepali scientist who offered us Tea, WIFI and and a cozy ambient to relax. After that stop, we started our way to Gorakshep. Harder that I expected, the trek is full of big rocks, the feeling was that we where in the Middle Earth bearing The One Ring… Now at 5000 mts high, each step is getting harder and harder.
But he we are, just one step behind our goal, Everest Base Camp, hoping we will have nice weather tomorrow and finally take the shot of the big one!
